6 Degrees from Disgrace
03:10
|
|||
Something's sleeping, something's stirring on the inside, how deep it lies Never shows up, never blows up, just on the inside, just on the rise
On the surface, not on the face, on the simmer, 6 degrees from disgrace Something's losing, someone's lost, goes with the motions, gives up the plot
Hanging to the bottom rung, won't be long till the comeback has begun Hanging on, just hanging on, Hanging on, just hanging on , Hanging on, hanging on
Hanging on, just hanging on, Hanging on, just hanging on, Hanging on, hanging on

Rebel on the Run
03:48
|
|||
He's up before the sun to get the dishes done
Complexion like a ghost - he makes a round of toast
His mother lives downstairs but no-one seems to care
And so he goes to school - his chance to play the fool
It's all too much for one so young - why choose right from wrong?
His future is written - a sad song - send the rebel on the run
A target for the man, delivers for a gang
For once he's not in need but he can never leave
To lead this kind of life, protected by a knife
His mother's on the phone but this time he won't come home
It's all too much for my sweet son - I taught him right from wrong
Please help us, God help us - we're helpless - send the rebel on the run
Waiting for the plane to crash - you know it won't be long
That old familiar feeling
Waiting for the bomb to drop
Although it's not your fault - send the rebel on the run
His future is written a sad song
Send the rebel on the run

Austerity? Child poverty? No community, everywhere you see
Such misery, hostility, our anxiety that breeds uncertainty
Poor worker's rights, just gangs at night with no respect or fear for all we once held dear
Who'll fund the police to stop the the thief, and who can cure what's really underneath?
On and on and on it goes
On and on and on we groan
How could you believe the lie they sold?
On and on and on; new lows
Best foot first; just bear the load
How much more until it all explodes?
All the average ordinary people, stuck in a deep hole
They thought they'd never fail
Calling out career politicians, appalling decisions
You know it's us you've failed
You know it's us you've failed.
When food banks use is on the rise,
Care home abuse don't raise an eye,
And doctors now don't have the time to care,
The elderly can freeze to death,
Our kids depressed with endless tests,
Big businesses aren't made to pay their share
On and on and on it goes
On and on and on we groan
How could you believe the lie they sold?
On and on and on; new lows
Best foot first; just bear the load
How much more until it all explodes?
All the average ordinary people
Stuck in a deep hole
They thought they'd never fail
Calling out career politicians
Appalling decisions
You know it's us you've failed
You know it's us you've failed.
We're in this together,
Move forward together
We're strong and we're stable
Unleash our potential

Mid Day Sleep In
03:07
|
|||
Clouds are clearing, time is nearing
Windows open, patterns broken
Warming your skin, breeze welcoming
Time to be still, to breathe, to soak it in
Mid day sleep in, sweet day dreaming
Rest for soul, peace to make whole
Tasting the fruit of all you've worked hard for
Easy walking, late night talking

No Jack Brews
03:39
|
|||
From the moment two people say 'I do'
Pack their suitcase with a promise to be true'
Life ahead of them - all it has to share
Linked together - not a care
Fill the old wheels with the few things that we own
Pick the keys up to the flat we'll call home
Make-do curtains and dodgy DIY, nothing plants can't beautify
Laugh and sing while we're wandering
Those impromptu gigs at the kitchen sink
Chase the sun and sit on a plastic seat,
sipping cheap champagne as a pay-rise treat
There'll be no jack brews: one for me and you
Notes you pass my way brighten up my day
Choose a Christmas tree - lights so twinkly
Cosy up and flick through what's on TV yeah
I love you, yes I need you, hope that I please you like you please me too

Not Today
03:43
|
|||
Sharing post and pics for praise
Make it look like everything’s ok
Cosy up staying in the game
Never know which one could bring you fame
All the world’s your stage
Heaven knows how many parts you’ve played
Now you’ve built a cage
Can’t you see that your true self will fade
Cos' you keep pushing people away
loneliness is the price that you pay
You’re so used to getting your own way -
But not today
From your chrome framed penthouse prison
Taken so much more than you’e given away
Flashy car no-one has driven
Never need to be forgiven you say
When all the world’s your stage
Heaven knows how many parts you’ve played
But now you’ve built a cage
Can’t you see that your true self will fade
Cos you keep pushing people away
loneliness is the price that you pay
You’re so used to getting your own way -
But not today
In the blink of an eye, before the ink is dry
You drop your friends and you don’t think twice
Does your vast empire leave you satisfied?
When you keep pushing people away
loneliness is the price that you pay
You’re so used to getting your own way
But not today, not today

I'm Home
04:39
|
|||
Such a long way home when walking on your own
So much is broken, So much was left unspoken
Thoughts weigh like a stone
Too long these weeds have grown
The truth was stolen
At last my heart has woken
A love I've always known has run to bring me home
No explanation or hint of condemnation
My heart and mind are blown - like a kaleidoscope
A life much fuller - All things in technicolour
I'm found, I'm home

Simple Treasures
03:25
|
|||
Unexpected letter falling through my door
Sweet words from a lover make me want you more
Lillies place in crystal, the fragrance fills my room
Spring blows through the window, scatters winter’s gloom
So many treasures to be found such pleasures that surround
Take a good look around and you’ll find
Some things so simple satisfy - Don’t let them pass you by
Don't let them pass you by
Playgrounds filled with laughter so innocent and free
A smile without a reason can mean so much to me
Hot food on a cold night, I’ll serve the best to you
A family celebration with a glass of wine or two
So many treasures to be found such pleasures that surround
Take a good look around and you’ll find
Some things so simple satisfy- Don’t let them pass you by

Walk This Road
04:02
|
|||
Hold my hand, sit a while, rest my thoughts, still my mind
Kiss my cheek, sleep in peace
Smile my way, soothe my pain, halve my load, keep me safe
Wipe my tears, share my fears
Will you walk this road with me?
Will you stand my ground?
All of this I vow to do - my love I've found
Play for fun, laugh along, sing our song, cheer me on
Side by side, boost my pride
Will you walk this road with me?
Will you stand my ground?
All of this I vow to do - my love I've found

We built this with one kiss, a tight ship, just one slip
We could run aground, it could all be drowned
But we'll steer sails, beat the wind and hail
Such rough seas brought to our knees
hankered down - ride it out
There'll be clearer skies, more joyful cries
We can breathe again, still the best of friends
Troubles will come and storms will blow cold but we'll laugh at the days to come
Seasons of sorrow and seasons of joy - may we laugh at the days to come
Sun sets and rises and we will grow old but we'll laugh at the days to come
Seasons of sorrow and seasons of joy - may we laugh at the days to come

New Dolly Salford, UK
‘New Dolly’ are wife and husband songwriting duo, Morag and Ian Peacock.
After years of unsuccessful songwriting
sessions (they usually ended in a row!), the couple managed to set aside their musical differences (She hates The Beatles, he thinks her adoration of The Longpigs is over the top...) to write and record an album.
It's been a year of (surprisingly!) enjoyable composing and producing.
